Sacred Heart Parish Respect Life Committee Mission Statement

The Respect Life Committee is Sacred Heart Parish's pro-life, pro-family organization committed to the sanctity of all human life from natural conception to natural death by promoting the teaching of the Catholic Church through education, outreach and prayer.

 

The Respect Life Committee invites you to join with us in praying for the sanctity of all human life. We invite you to our meetings and events. We ask for your input and ideas to help us become a large and active group promoting a culture of life in our community. We ask you to recommend our information to anyone experiencing a crisis pregnancy.

 

 

Events and Announcements

Holy Hour for Life

The Respect Life Committee invites you to pray and sing at the Holy Hour for Life during Eucharistic Adoration on Friday, May 5 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Little Church. We will sing songs of praise, listen to children read prayers/scripture verses, and pray in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Psalm 139:13: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." We pray all will respect the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. Seeking Donations for Pro-Life Pregnancy Center

The Respect Life Committee invites you to bring in a donation for the Center for Pregnancy Concerns, a pro-life pregnancy center. Please drop off donations (e.g. baby shampoo, diapers, wipes, formula, new and gently used baby clothes [size infant - 3T]) in the bins located in the main lobby of the church during the weekends of April 29/30 and May 6/7. We give thanks to God for the sacred gift of life and pray all will respect life from conception to natural death. "Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me." (Matthew 25:40) Thank you for your generosity.

 

Walk for Life

The Respect Life Committee encourages you to participate in the Tender Care Pregnancy Center's Walk for Life on Saturday, May 13, at the Brethren Home at Cross Keys in New Oxford, Pennsylvania. The registration begins at 9:00 a.m., and the walk starts at 10:00 a.m. Walk will be held rain or shine. Please visit www.tendercare.org/events or call 717-633-9685 for more information.

 

Mother's Day Carnations

The Respect Life Committee will be selling carnations for Mother's Day after the 4:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, May 13 and after the morning and noon Masses on Sunday, May 14. Tender Care Pregnancy Center Fundraising Banquet

The Respect Life Committee encourages you to attend the Tender Care Pregnancy Center Fundraising Banquet on Tuesday, May 16, at the Martin's of Westminster (140 Village Shopping Center in Westminster). The key note speaker is Melissa Ohden, a survivor of a failed saline infusion abortion. She has been featured on television and radio programs including: EWTN's Life on the Rock and Defending Life, Fox News, Focus on the Family, and more. The sit down dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. The event is being underwritten, so there is no charge to attend, however this banquet is one of the most important fundraisers of the year for Tender Care Pregnancy Center, so a financial appeal will be made. A reservation is required for each person planning to attend. You must R.S.V.P. no later than Friday, May 5, by calling Tender Care at 717-633-9685, or registering online at tendercare.org/events.

 

Respect Life Committee Seeks New Members

The Respect Life Committee invites you to join them for a rosary for life and planning meeting on Thursday, May 18, in room 112. We will pray a rosary for life from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the planning meeting will take place from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Please join us as we plan ways to spread awareness for the necessity of respecting the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. Prayerful Sing-along

The Respect Life Committee invites people of all ages to join us for songs, prayers, fellowship, and refreshments at the Lenten Prayerful Sing Along on Friday, May 19 from 7:15 - 9:15 p.m. in the Mother Seton Room. Our theme is "Following Christ". We invite you to bring a donation for the pro-life pregnancy center (e.g. diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, new and gently used baby clothing [size infant - 3T], etc.). Child care is provided. Children will make pictures for senior citizens, play games, and then join us for songs, fellowship, and snacks. Sharing Christ's Love with the Future Care Residents

The Respect Life Committee and Faith in Action invite you to share the love of Christ by singing songs with the residents of Future Care Cherrywood Nursing Home (located on 12020 Reisterstown Road) on Wednesday, May 24 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. We will meet in the lobby at 6:25 p.m. We will be distributing Easter cards to the residents. As we thank God for the sacred gift of life, we will also sing "Happy Birthday" to each resident who has a birthday in May. Pro-Life OB/GYN

Mary Ann Sorra, M.D., OB/GYN, stopped prescribing artificial contraception and adopted the use of natural family planning in her medical practice in 2009. (Click here to read the Catholic Review article about her.) She then partnered with Saint Agnes to start Natural Fertility Care. She believes she became a better doctor after making that transition — better able to care for the whole human person, body and soul. She trained at the Pope Paul VI Institute and became a Medical Consultant for NaPro technology in 2011. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Association of Pro-life Ob/Gyns. Rachel's Vineyard and Project Rachel

Rachel's Vineyard (sometimes known as "Project Rachel") is a ministry offering post-abortion counseling, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Maternity Counseling / Adoption Services

These services are offered by Catholic Charities in Baltimore. They offer the support needed to make the best decision for you and your baby. Call 410-659-4050 or 1-800-CARE-002.

 

Committee Meetings

The Committee meets monthly during the school year on the third Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in room 112.

 

Weekly, there is a Prayer Vigil for Life on Saturday mornings in Owings Mills at the corner of Dolfield and Music Fair Road from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. One does not have to attend the monthly meetings in order to help. Volunteers for our annual events are always needed!
