Sacred Heart Parish Respect Life Committee Mission Statement

The Respect Life Committee is Sacred Heart Parish's pro-life, pro-family organization committed to the sanctity of all human life from natural conception to natural death by promoting the teaching of the Catholic Church through education, outreach and prayer.


The Respect Life Committee invites you to join with us in praying for the sanctity of all human life. We invite you to our meetings and events. We ask for your input and ideas to help us become a large and active group promoting a culture of life in our community. We ask you to recommend our information to anyone experiencing a crisis pregnancy.



Events and Announcements

Holy Hour for Life

The Respect Life Committee invites you to pray and sing at the Holy Hour for Life during Eucharistic Adoration on Friday, September 1 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Little Church. We will sing songs of praise, listen to children read prayers/scripture verses, and pray in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Psalm 139:13: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." We pray all will respect the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. If your son/daughter would like to read, please arrive at 3:50 p.m. Please join us for kickball on the field near the school playground after the Holy Hour for Life. Respect Life Committee Seeking Volunteers to March in Reisterstown Festival Parade

The Respect Life Committee invites you to march with them in the Reisterstown Festival Parade on Saturday, September 9. Let us pray hearts will be moved as we pray all will respect the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. We are meeting in front of the Cow on 201 Main Street at 8:15 a.m. The parade begins at 9:00 a.m. We will be carrying banners with some of the following messages: "We Thank God for Life," "Respect Life," "Babies are a Gift from God." Sharing Christ's Love with the Future Care Residents

The Respect Life Committee and Faith in Action invite you to share the love of Christ by singing songs with the residents of Future Care Cherrywood Nursing Home (located on 12020 Reisterstown Road) on Monday, September 11 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. We will meet in the lobby at 6:25 p.m. We will be distributing cards to the residents. As we thank God for the sacred gift of life, we will also sing "Happy Birthday" to each resident who has a birthday in September. Prayerful Sing-along

The Respect Life Committee invites people of all ages to join us for songs, prayers, fellowship, and refreshments at the Lenten Prayerful Sing Along on Friday, September 22 from 7:15 - 9:15 p.m. in the Mother Seton Room. Our theme is "Thanking God for the Sacred Gift of Life". We invite you to bring a donation for the pro-life pregnancy center (e.g. diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, new and gently used baby clothing [size infant - 3T], etc.). Child care is provided. Respect Life Committee Seeks New Members

The Respect Life Committee invites you to join them for a rosary for life and planning meeting on Thursday, September 28, in room 112. We will pray a rosary for life from 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., and the planning meeting will take place from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. We welcome you to join us in planning ways we can spread awareness for respect for the sacred gift of life from conception to natural death. Faith in Action (Middle School - High School Girls)

If you are a girl (6th - 12th grade) and you want to grow closer to Christ, participate in service opportunities, and make new friends, please join Faith in Action. Beginning on Friday, October 6, we meet every first Friday of the month (Oct. - May) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in room 126. We pray together during Eucharistic Adoration, learn about a saint, participate in service projects (e.g. preparing baby bottles for fundraising and making diaper cakes for pro-life pregnancy centers, making dolls for children from St. Vincent's Center, painting bowls for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, etc.), and play Bible Trivia, Pictionary, Scattergories, Saints Charades. Little Flowers and Blue Knights

Little Flowers Girls' Club and Blue Knights Boys' Club are Catholic clubs for children ages 5 and older that teach virtues through scripture, saints' biographies, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Each month, we pray together at Eucharistic Adoration, learn and do lessons in the Faith, activities, talks, crafts, and games. We meet on the first Friday of each month at Sacred Heart Church from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We will begin Friday, October 6. There is a suggested donation of $20 for each year to offset costs. Pro-Life OB/GYN

Mary Ann Sorra, M.D., OB/GYN, stopped prescribing artificial contraception and adopted the use of natural family planning in her medical practice in 2009. She believes she became a better doctor after making that transition — better able to care for the whole human person, body and soul. She trained at the Pope Paul VI Institute and became a Medical Consultant for NaPro technology in 2011. Rachel's Vineyard and Project Rachel

Rachel's Vineyard (sometimes known as "Project Rachel") is a ministry offering post-abortion counseling, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Committee Meetings

The Committee meets monthly during the school year on the third Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in room 112.


Weekly, there is a Prayer Vigil for Life on Saturday mornings in Owings Mills at the corner of Dolfield and Music Fair Road from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. One does not have to attend the monthly meetings in order to help. Volunteers for our annual events are always needed!
