We, the people of God in the parish of Sacred Heart, are constantly attempting to become a faith community of those who, believing in Jesus, proclaim God's Kingdom and share the mystery of faith by worshipping the Father, enabling all members to grow in their relationship with each other through the Son, and witnessing our gifts through active service to others in the Spirit.

History

Built in 1873, our Historic Church as it presently stands, was dedicated on May 21,1887, as a mission of St. Charles, Pikesville, Maryland. Many dedicated families worked and prayed for the independent parish church that was established in 1946, with Fr. Francis J. Egan as its first Pastor.

The parish school, as we know it today, was dedicated November 4, 1956, under the direction of the Sisters of Charity, Greensburg, PA, who staffed the school until June 1984. With the increased demand for Catholic education in our area, an expansion plan was undertaken.  In 2002,  ten new classrooms, a library media center, computer lab, and art room were added.  Sacred Heart School currently has an enrollment of 806 students from pre-school through 8th grade.

In an effort to provide the proper worship space for a growing community that now numbers over 3,300 families, our new church was dedicated February 19, 1993.  In 1998, the historic church was completely restored in observance of the building's 125th anniversary.

The Parish Center, located in in the former convent building, was renovated and enlarged in 2003 to accommodate the various parish offices.
