The Respect Life Committee is Sacred Heart Parish's pro-life, pro-family organization committed to the sanctity of all human life from natural conception to natural death by promoting the teaching of the Catholic Church through education, outreach and prayer.
The Respect Life Committee invites you to join with us in praying for the sanctity of all human life. We invite you to our meetings and events. We ask for your input and ideas to help us become a large and active group promoting a culture of life in our community. We ask you to recommend our information to anyone experiencing a crisis pregnancy.
The Respect Life Committee invites you to pray and sing at the Holy Hour for Life during Eucharistic Adoration on Friday, March 3 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Little Church. We will sing songs of praise, listen to children read prayers/scripture verses, and pray in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Psalm 139:13: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." We pray all will respect the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. The Respect Life Committee invites you to a Lenten Evening of Prayer with Eucharistic Adoration and Irish Tenor, Mark Forrest. This Lenten Evening of Prayer will take place Sunday, March 12, from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the main church. Mark Forrest has sung for Mother Teresa (now St. Teresa of Calcutta), Pope St. John Paul II, and Pope Francis. Mark Forrest and his wife and family are faithful witnesses for respect for the sanctity of life at all stages. This evening of prayer will be dedicated especially to thanking God for the gift of life and praying all will respect the sacred gift of life from conception to natural death. The Respect Life Committee invites you to participate in the Maryland March for Life in Annapolis on Monday, March 13. There will be a youth rally at 4:30 p.m., a Nondenominational Worship Service and Catholic Mass at 5:15 p.m., the March for Life at 6:30 p.m. with a rally at Lawyer's Mall at 7:00 p.m. After the march, all are invited to meet back at St. Mary's Church for Chick-fil-A and fellowship. The Respect Life Committee invites you to join them for a rosary for life and planning meeting on Thursday, March 16, in room 112. We will pray a rosary for life from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the planning meeting will take place from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. We will discuss spiritual adoption, upcoming baby supply collection for the Center for Pregnancy Concerns, plan ways to help raise awareness about how to stop physician-assisted suicide from being passed in Maryland, and more. The Respect Life Committee invites people of all ages to join us for songs, prayers, fellowship, and refreshments at the Lenten Prayerful Sing Along on Friday, March 24 from 7:15 - 9:15 p.m. in the Music Room (room #126). Our theme is "Walking with our Lord". We invite you to bring a donation for the pro-life pregnancy center (e.g. diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, new and gently used baby clothing [size infant - 3T], etc.) Child care is provided. The Respect Life Committee and Faith in Action invite you to share the love of Christ by singing songs with the residents of Future Care Cherrywood Nursing Home (located on 12020 Reisterstown Road) on Monday, March 27 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. We will meet in the lobby at 6:25 p.m. We will be distributing St. Patrick's Day cards to the residents. Mary Ann Sorra, M.D., OB/GYN, stopped prescribing artificial contraception and adopted the use of natural family planning in her medical practice in 2009. The Committee meets monthly during the school year on the third Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in room 112.
Weekly, there is a Prayer Vigil for Life on Saturday mornings in Owings Mills at the corner of Dolfield and Music Fair Road from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. One does not have to attend the monthly meetings in order to help. Volunteers for our annual events are always needed!
