Sacred Heart Parish Respect Life Committee Mission Statement

The Respect Life Committee is Sacred Heart Parish's pro-life, pro-family organization committed to the sanctity of all human life from natural conception to natural death by promoting the teaching of the Catholic Church through education, outreach and prayer.


The Respect Life Committee invites you to join with us in praying for the sanctity of all human life. We invite you to our meetings and events. We ask for your input and ideas to help us become a large and active group promoting a culture of life in our community. We ask you to recommend our information to anyone experiencing a crisis pregnancy.



Events and Announcements

Holy Hour for Life

The Respect Life Committee invites you to pray and sing at the Holy Hour for Life during Eucharistic Adoration on Friday, July 6 from 4:00 — 5:00 p.m. in the Little Church. We will sing songs of praise, listen to children read prayers / scripture verses, and pray in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. We pray all will respect the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. If your son or daughter would like to read, please arrive at 3:50 p.m. Afterward we will play kick ball together on the Sacred Heart Schoolfield near the playground. Sharing Christ's Love with the Future Care Residents

The Respect Life Committee and Faith in Action invite you to share the love of Christ by singing with the residents of Future Care Cherrywood Nursing Home (located on 12020 Reisterstown Road) on Monday, July 23 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. We will meet in the lobby at 6:25 p.m. We will be distributing Mother's Day cards and pictures to the residents. As we thank God for the sacred gift of life, we will also sing "Happy Birthday" to each resident who has a birthday in July. Please call Denise Blair-Nellies at 410-795-6852 for more information.


Center for Pregnancy Concerns 6th Annual Crab Feast

Please support the life-saving work of the Center for Pregnancy Concerns by attending their 6th annual crab feast on Saturday, July 21 from 5:00 — 9:00 p.m. The buffet is from 5:00 — 8:00 p.m. The crabs will be served from 5:30 — 8:00 p.m. Price is $45 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 13, and children 5 and under are free. The crab feast takes place at Our Lady Queen of Peace located at 10003 Bird River Road in Middle River, Maryland 21220. Menu includes crabs, pulled pork, hot dogs, cole slaw, baked beans, pasta salad, corn on the cobb, crab soup, soda and tea, and a dessert table. Attendees may bring their own beer. Pro-Life OB/GYN

Mary Ann Sorra, M.D., OB/GYN, stopped prescribing artificial contraception and adopted the use of natural family planning in her medical practice in 2009. (Click here to read the Catholic Review article about her.) She then partnered with Saint Agnes to start Natural Fertility Care. She believes she became a better doctor after making that transition — better able to care for the whole human person, body and soul. She trained at the Pope Paul VI Institute and became a Medical Consultant for NaPro technology in 2011. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Association of Pro-life Ob/Gyns. Rachel's Vineyard and Project Rachel

Rachel's Vineyard (sometimes known as "Project Rachel") is a ministry offering post-abortion counseling, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Maternity Counseling / Adoption Services

Committee Meetings

The Committee meets monthly during the school year on the third Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in room 112.


Weekly, there is a Prayer Vigil for Life on Saturday mornings in Owings Mills at the corner of Dolfield and Music Fair Road from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. One does not have to attend the monthly meetings in order to help. Volunteers for our annual events are always needed!
